The Founders

“In the autumn of 2013, little did we know we were bound to meet at a restaurant in New York City that would one day be cherished not only as a fond memory, but would always be remembered as the beginning to our story! There was a little pizza place called Pizza Pub, on the corner of 23rd and 3rd in the downtown Gramercy area of Manhattan. One day a young photography student working there on the weekends, and a pizza chef new to the neighborhood, were scheduled to work the same shift! Stories were exchanged, bagels shared, and sparks flew . . . and as they say, the rest is history.”

“Dreaming of a joint business where we could expand on our passions and experiences in the restaurant industry while bringing forward our own warm and unique approach to fine dining, in 2017 we packed up our bags and headed to Northern California. We were drawn to Sonoma County and right away knew it would be the perfect place to establish our business & brand; sharing our love for delicious food and the art of woodfired cooking.

Mohaimen Huria

With over 10 years experience in the industry and the highly competitive restaurant scene of New York City, Chef Owner Mohaimen Huria is not only passionate when it comes to food and its many subtleties, but is also enriched with a special understanding of the art of cooking with a natural flame. From artisanal brick-oven pizzamaking to underground desert bourdims, these ancient cooking styles are what attract Chef Huria so deeply to his craft, evoking both a physical and emotional connection at all times. From making dough to the production of other flavorful creations and introducing ingredients to the wood-fire, his passion lies in celebrating the balance and harmony of it all.

Growing up in his sea-bordering hometown of Tripoli, Libya, Chef Huria’s culinary journey began early at the age of 10, when together with his father and brother, he learned how to catch octopus and set nets for catching fish overnight in the Mediterranean Sea. His exposure to the old world cuisine of Tripoli also delicately shaped his taste buds and taught him the value of preserving traditional recipes and techniques. At 20 years old, Chef Huria moved from Libya to NYC, and from Sicilian-owned family pizzerias to fast paced New American fine dining, he immersed himself in the restaurant industries of Brooklyn and Manhattan. Before long, Chef Huria went on to pursue his dreams of beginning his own business together with his wife and business partner, and in 2018, Huria’s was born and brought to Sonoma County! From the original mobile woodfired catering concept to the self-designed brick & mortar location in 2019, and most recently an expansion of Huria’s catering to Oahu, HI in 2022, Huria’s continues along its path with its story just begun!

Owner

Adriana Sánchez-Huria

From East coast to West coast, Mrs. Adriana Sánchez-Huria grew up in Miami, FL and began her journey when making the leap to New York City in 2008, to pursue an education in the arts. She graduated from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan with a BFA in photography; living and working in Brooklyn for nearly 10 years. As a freelance photographer, she pursued her own work and exhibited personal pieces in various group and solo shows for several years, she exclusively assisted and traveled with the award-winning photographer Andrew Dosunmu, and worked with the photo department of Fast Company magazine amongst other ventures, up until her move out west to launch Huria’s together with her husband and business partner. Alongside her photo career, and since the age of 18, she also worked in the restaurant industry; where she always felt an innate connection to the art of cuisine, design and hosting. She found this type of work very natural and comforting, having grown up in a Cuban household where vivacious family gatherings were hosted on the regular, and where the smells of charred garlic and white rice wafted through the air nightly.

Having one foot in the world of dining and the other in the world of fine art, Adriana knew early on that no matter her pursuits, her biggest goal was to one day work for herself living out her passions daily, while sharing a meaningful life with her better half — a dream she is now blessed to fulfill each day as the Huria’s family also continues to grow with their newest, most precious addition!
